Welcome to Flamingo Floral Services
My story begins with a Mommy Makeover at Steel Magnolias Salon in Deland, Fl with my amazing stylist Kait. This appointment was different because it was the first time we’d seen each other since having our babies, so we had a lot of catching up to do on our journeys into motherhood. I shared with her my post partum struggles and she asked me basically if I could do anything I wanted to what would it be? I said in a perfect world I’d be a florist with my own floral shop. She said, what’s stopping you? I said well, I don’t have a floral shop for one… and she said why don’t you start by selling them through Instagram and Facebook? And so, the dream started to come to life.
I came home from my appointment not only with great hair but with a great business idea! I bawled my eyes out in excitement as I told my husband about our conversation and what I wanted to do. We then got to work on making it happen. We started our research on gardening, and growing cut flowers and decided on 14 raised beds in the backyard! This man has gone above and beyond for me to make this dream a reality. We’re learning and growing together through this process and that in itself has been a beautiful thing!
I then reached out to Dottie Adams who was the floral specialist I worked with at Publix and asked if she would mentor me and teach me all her tips and tricks for the floral industry. She agreed and I have been attending Dottie’s floral school, it’s been so much fun learning from her, and if you know Dottie you’d know that each session ends with a Bud Light!
Floral arrangements have always been a hobby of mine but I’ve never had any ideas for a business name. If you know me personally you know flamingos are my spirit animal but even more so now because I’ve learned that flamingos lose their pink while taking care of their babies. Mama flamingos give absolutely everything they have to their young, causing them to lose their carotenoid which gives them their pink coloring. Obviously, I only found it fitting that during my post partum days I name my business Flamingo Floral Services while I raise my daughter, and my flowers, I too am working on getting my pink back!
We’re quite literally a work in progress and growing more and more each day and for that I am truly grateful! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey, I can’t wait to see what else is in store!
